U.S. medical and adult-use cannabis markets have been growing in recent years as new states are increasingly regulating the sale of legal products for medical and recreational use.

In such a scenario, cannabis cultivation plays an important key role in the market as it aims to guarantee the excellence of the products.

In order to understand the future trends of cannabis cultivation in the U.S., cannabis data company New Frontier Data recently published a report that aims to explore several issues which producers must consider when operating to serve newly expanding markets.

The report projects that over 27 million pounds of legal cannabis will be cultivated in the U.S. by 2030.

According to the report, indoor, outdoor, and greenhouse facilities produced 10.2 million pounds of cannabis in the country as of 2021.

But the launch of new legal markets on the East Coast and Midwest is expected to increase overall production significantly.

Between 2022 and 2030, Florida, New York, New Jersey, and Virginia will collectively account for one-quarter of the legal cannabis produced in the country.

However, there are several factors to consider when assessing the growth of cannabis cultivation across the country.

Different climatic conditions are expected to favor controlled environments over outdoor cultivation but also can impact insulation, heating, and cooling requirements, especially in greenhouses that are more exposed to ambient conditions.
